| The big recreational value of the natural landscape offers a high
quality of life to the locals and the visitors of the municipality. A
lot of kilometres of footpaths and cycle tracks are available and are
being developed. For sporty visitors there is in and also around Saint
Vith a good infrastructure with tennis courts, a golf course, an indoor
and outdoor swimming pool and many things more. Moreover there is next
to St. Vith a large leisure centre
with a cart track, a bowling alley and other attractions. The large culture, conference und exhibition centre "Triangel" enlarges the tourist facilities. |
Saint Vith also satisfies gourmets, because in high-class restaurants
you can enjoy the local and international cuisine; there is even a star
restaurant among them. One shouldn't miss the game week-ends in autumn.
In
addition, Saint Vith has the Büchelturm - the only relic of the
medieval city wall - and the neo-romanesque Vitus basilica; both are
certainly worth seeing. A historical walk leads you to the good old
days of Saint Vith, which was before the destruction of the town in the
Second World War. |
The home museum is set
in the former railway station and shows interesting exhibits of the
past of the area; the planet way shows our solar system to those eager
to learn in a clear, concrete and natural way.
But the surrounding villages of the town Saint Vith can also offer some nice attractions to the visitor. In the beer museum of Rodt
you can marvel at more than 4000 different beer bottles from around the
world. In winter you can enjoy the nice cross-country skiing route next
to the museum and at the beginning of February the yearly sledge dogs
race is a well-known public attraction. |
| From spring 2007 the village of Recht offers a new attraction: The old slate gallery,
from which till the beginning of the 20th century bluish grey right
stone was worked, will be opened as a visitor's mine and it will allow
a fascinating look in the underworld. |

diverse and varied vacation in a comfortable atmosphere and natural

The
small attractive town Saint Vith and its environs lie between the Eifel
and the Ardennes. The municipality has been known for generations for
its hospitality and tourist facilities. The town Saint Vith, which was
completely destroyed during the Second World War, has developed
remarkably in last decades. Nevertheless the ancient tradition as a
marketplace has been preserved so that Saint Vith offers to its guests
a large number of attractive shopping facilities in its recently
renewed city centre where a lot of terraces invite for staying.
Moreover the regular market events attract thousands of visitors; the
highlight of these events is the traditional Katharinenmarkt in
November.
